Price & Options
A custom wedding cake can range anywhere from $100 - $1,000+ depending on the size, tiers, toppings, etc. so it’s incredibly difficult to make generalized estimates for custom cakes. However, if you have a small group, and are looking for something simple, I’ll let you in on a little secret… the “Chantilly” cake from Whole Foods! These delicious cakes (found in the image above) are available at almost all WF locations (which can be conveniently found across the state), they look beautiful for photos, they come in a variety of sizes, and they taste amazing! The Chantilly cakes come in a variety of sizes ranging from the 4in (2 person) cake for $12 to the 8in (10 person) cake for $30. They also offer Chantilly sheet cakes around $90 per 50 servings.
Beyond the Chantilly cake referenced above, Whole Foods does offer a variety of other designs, and in my opinion, is the best value for small wedding groups in the area. The only downside is the Whole Foods cakes only come in a single level (aka one “tier”), which doesn’t fit the preferences of many couples. But again, with my planning services, I provide a list of awesome bakeries that can work with you to custom create any sort of cake.
“Do we really need a wedding cake?”
It’s totally up to you! Many of my small groups don’t do a cake, and simply opt for a dessert at their restaurant after the ceremony. You may decide you just want a small “cutting cake” for some fun photos after the ceremony, in this case, again I recommend the Chantilly cake from WF, they offer a 4in size that is perfect for you and your fiance to share a couple bites and get some nice photos! :)
