“Can My Friend Officiate?”
Yes! In the state of Colorado it’s perfectly legal (and quite common) to have a friend officiate the wedding. With my planning services I provide a complimentary guide and sample script to help your friend/family member get acquainted with the process.

“Can We Officiate Ourselves?”
Yes! In Colorado no officiant is legally required, so if you want to do your vows and “I Do’s” on your own that is perfectly fine—and legal! I also provide a guide on how couples can go about this process. Generally, I only recommend this route for groups with no guests, if you are having guests, generally more comfortable to have one of them lead the ceremony.

“I Just Want The Cheapest Wedding Officiant”
If you’re searching for the “cheapest” option, I recommend going to Craigslist and looking for someone who is just starting out. If you’re looking for the best value, budget-friendly, professional officiant who’s going to go above and beyond to make your day awesome (while still charging less then the competition)… Then you’re in the right place!

On average, you can expect to pay between $300 to $750 for a wedding officiant in Colorado. Meet and consult with the couple to discuss their preferences for their wedding. They also offer suggestions based on personal preferences when it comes to wording, traditions, and cultural/religious elements.

Ensure that all legal requirements are met to solemnize the marriage.
Can my friend officiate my elopement in Colorado?
Yes! It’s perfectly legal to have your friend officiate your wedding. If you use my planning services I’ll provide a free guide to walk them through the process, alternatively I sell a $50 guide here.
Is an officiant legally required to elope in Colorado?
Nope! Colorado allows couples to “self-solemnize”, which is a fancy term for signing and filing the license on their own without an officiant.
Are witnesses legally required to elope in Colorado?
Nope! Colorado does not require witnesses to sign the marriage license. You can leave the lines empty or have friends/family sign for fun.
Can my dog sign my marriage license in Colorado?
Yes! Colorado does not legally require witnesses to sign the marriage license, but there is a space if you’d like to have your dog put their “print”. Just make sure to bring an ink pad.
Can we write our own vows if we’re eloping in Colorado?
Of course! There are no rules on the structure of the wedding ceremony, your officiant will work with you to custom create a script that fits your style and preferences.
