Frequently Asked Questions
How much does an elopement videographer cost in Colorado?
Professional wedding videographers in Colorado generally range from $3,000 - $8,000, depending on the time needed. You can often times find very cheap offerings from new videographers on Craigslist (not something I recommend). With my planning services through Colorado MicroWeddings we have videographers who specialize in small weddings and elopements that start at $900 for 1 hour of coverage.
Why are elopement and wedding videographers so expensive?
Most wedding videographers only book 15-20 weddings per year, so they rely on booking large packages at high rates to make their living for the year. In Colorado there is also a high demand for wedding videographers and a relatively low supply, which allows the top level options to set high prices. I created Colorado MicroWeddings as an elopement company that could specialize in working with smaller bookings. I have a team of top-level professional videographers who offer my couples discount packages for small weddings.
Should I get a videographer for my elopement?
As a wedding planner my answer is simple: if you have the budget for a videographer, book one! Having a highlight video of your day is a really nice keepsake, and (in my experience) the couples who opt for the package are never disappointed. With that being said, video is relatively expensive, so like many things in a wedding budget it comes down to your own personal preferences and priorities.
How does wedding videography work for an elopement?
Every videographer has their own style, but generally speaking they are going to cover the: getting ready, ceremony, family photos, and portraits. They then edit these shots into a cinematic highlight of the day with music. You can also add-on a “ceremony only” video which is just an uncut video of the ceremony portion to share with friends and family.
Can I live stream my elopement wedding?
This is not something that many vendors offer as a service, but if you have a guest with a cell phone and service they can totally live stream the event! Just make sure you have good cell service at the ceremony site. Another tip: microphone quality for videos at a distance is generally quite poor, try adding on an external mic!
