Garden of the Gods is a beautiful mountain park, conveniently located just outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado. The park is open all year around, and allows weddings without a permit for small groups. The natural red rock formations and dynamic views provide breathtaking backdrops for photos, and the convenient parking and accessibility allows couples to get mountain vibes, without hiking.

Unfortunately…
This location tends to be PACKED with people, and other weddings. Weekends are best avoided, but even weekdays tend to be crowded. If you want privacy, we gotta do sunrise, or a different location.

Garden of the Gods Permits, Rules & FAQs

Wedding Permit

Good news! There is no permit required to have a wedding at one of the designated ceremony sites in Garden of the Gods.

Best Day, Time & Month

The best time to get married at Garden of the Gods is sunrise, on a weekday, anytime mid-June through mid-October. With that being said we do weddings at the park all year around, and sunset is also very beautiful lighting for photos. It is generally best to avoid Friday-Sunday weddings at Garden of the Gods when possible.

Max Group Sizes

Each ceremony site in Garden of the Gods has its own designated max group size, technically some of them support up to 50 people, but because of the crowds and limited parking, we only plan weddings in the park for up to 30 guests.

The Best Ceremony Site

The best ceremony site in Garden of the Gods is High Point Overlook. This is a beautiful site with sweeping mountain views and red rock formations, but more importantly, it’s one of the only spots where you can get a parking spot.

Parking & Accessibility

Our preferred ceremony site, High Point Overlook, sits just off the edge of a large parking lot, making it very accessible.

Photo Spots

High Point Overlook offers dynamic mountain views for the ceremony, and after that, the photographer can take the couple just a few minutes down the trails to get more photos at our favorite spots.

Marriage License

In order to get legally married in Colorado, you’ll need a marriage license. This process is very simple, and with my planning, I provide easy step-by-step guidance!

Dogs

Dogs are allowed at Garden of the Gods, but must be kept on a six foot leash.

Decorations, Arches, and Chairs

You are not allowed to setup chairs, tables, decorations, or arches at Garden of the Gods.
