At nearly 12,000 feet in Summit County, this high-altitude Colorado destination delivers dramatic Rocky Mountain scenery that few wedding locations can match—but with true alpine conditions including volatile weather and frequent wind.

Professional Opinion
Over the past few years, this location has gotten very popular for groups and weddings, and parking can be limited. I only suggest this spot for small groups (six or less guests) who are prepared to hike 15-20mins to get privacy, and don’t mind a little wind and rain :)

Loveland Pass Permits, Rules, & FAQs

Wedding Permit

Loveland Pass is regulated by the White River National Forest, they do not require a specific “wedding permit” and only require special use permits for groups with 75+ people. The vendors that I coordinate follow all official National Forest rules and Leave No Trace Principles.

Max Group Sizes

As a professional elopement planner, I never suggest doing a wedding on public land, like Loveland Pass, with more than six guests. However, we do accept groups of up to twenty guests at this location on a case-by-case basis.

Dogs

Dogs are allowed at Loveland Pass.

Decorations, Arches, and Chairs

You are not allowed to set up decorations, arches, or chairs for a wedding ceremony at Loveland Pass without a special use permit.

How Long is the Walk to Pass Lake?

Pass Lake is technically about 100 yards from the parking area. However, the best spots for the wedding are a 10-15 minute hike, which allows you to get the best views, and most privacy. The trail is packed dirt, and unmaintained, so can be muddy or icy depending on the conditions. This location is not recommended for elderly guests or those with mobility issues.

I connect you with my team of world-class vendors (photographer, officiant, etc.) based on your preferences. I’ll coordinate the logistics for the day, and provide guidance on securing the marriage license.

Step 4
Get Married!
You’ll meet up with my day-of vendors at Loveland Pass (like photographer/officiant) and they will lead the day! You’ll have a simple ceremony, followed by a photo session. Your officiant will sign the marriage license, and then it’s off to celebrate (usually) at a local restaurant - I’ll send some recommendations!
