Why Couples Love Sapphire Point
Sapphire Point is one of the most sought-after mountain wedding locations near Breckenridge, offering sweeping alpine views with almost no effort required to reach them. Couples choose this overlook for its dramatic panorama of the Rocky Mountains and Dillon Reservoir, the easy walk from the parking area, and the unbeatable convenience of being just 15 minutes from Breckenridge and Keystone. It’s the perfect blend of iconic Colorado scenery and effortless accessibility — ideal for intimate elopements and small weddings year-round.
Unfortunately…
Even with a wedding permit, this location is on a popular public trail and tends to be PACKED with people—sunrise is the only way to beat the crowds. They also have new rules no longer allowing chairs or decorations, and limit groups to two parking spots—so larger groups have to carpool, or find a local shuttle (shuttle services in this area are limited and expensive). It’s still a great spot for small groups, especially if you can swing sunrise!

How Long is the Walk to Sapphire Point?
Sapphire Point is a short 5min walk from the parking area. The trail is packed dirt, with a slight decline. While it is NOT wheelchair accessible, it is generally easy to manage. However, rain, ice, and snow can make it very difficult for people with mobility restrictions.
When to Elope at Sapphire Point
Sapphire Point is open 365 days a year, and we do elopements here all year around!
Best Month to Elope at Sapphire Point
The most popular months to elope at Sapphire Point are Mid-June through mid-October. This is peak wedding season in Colorado, and offers comfortable conditions and easy access. Winter is also a beautiful time at Sapphire Point! Snow is possible late-October through late-April, with the highest chances of snow January through March.

Best Day to Elope at Sapphire Point
The best day of the week to elope at Sapphire Point is a Tuesday or Wednesday, this is when there tends to be slightly less traffic at the overlook. While this location is always busy, I strongly suggest avoiding Friday-Sunday when possible, and definitely avoiding Saturdays when parking can be near impossible.
Best Time to Elope at Sapphire Point
The best time to elope at Sapphire Point is sunrise, this is optimal lighting for photos, and has the least amount of people around. Sunset is also great lighting for photos, but is always crowded.
