Professional officiant who specializes in small weddings to lead the ceremony (religious or secular).
Not legally required! I can coach you on how to self/friend officiate instead.

Sawmill Reservoir Permits, Rules & FAQs

Best Month, Day & Time

Sawmill Reservoir is open all year around, but can be difficult to access in the winter months. Generally speaking, mid-June through mid-October is the “peak” wedding season in Colorado, and that tends to be when the weather is most comfortable, but it’s really just personal preference.

Ceremony Privacy

Sawmill Reservoir is a popular public park, and is generally full of people and other weddings. At sunrise the park is the least busy, but if you want any level of privacy, this isn’t the spot for you.

Wedding Permit

Good news! There is no wedding permit required for Sawmill Reservoir.

Max Group Sizes

Sawmill Reservoir has very tight trails that run along the water, making it difficult for groups to stand without blocking the trails. You can have a small group of six guests, but it’s best for groups who don’t have any guests.

Parking & Accessibility

There is a parking lot only a few minutes from the reservoir, but it’s often full. Be sure to give yourself extra time on the day of the wedding to find a spot!

Photo Spots

Sawmill Reservoir has a bunch of great photo spots all within walking distance, including the bridge, the reservoir itself, and an aspen grove.

Marriage License

In order to get legally married in Colorado, you’ll need a marriage license. This process is very simple, and with my planning, I provide easy step-by-step guidance!

Dogs

Dogs are allowed at Sawmill Reservoir, but must be kept on a leash.

Decorations, Arches, and Chairs

You are not allowed to setup chairs, tables, decorations, or arches at Sawmill Reservoir.

If it all works for you…
You hire me!
You’ll pay my planning fee in full, and 50% of each of my Vendor’s costs to reserve the date—with their remaining 50% balances due 30 days prior to the wedding.

Step 3
Planning, Vendors, & License
I’ll work with you 1-on-1 to plan your day.
I’ll connect you with my team of world-class vendors (photographer, officiant, etc.) based on your preferences, coordinate the where/when logistics for the day, create the timeline, and provide guidance on obtaining the marriage license. And of course, I stay in your corner through the wedding day—if something comes up, I’ll be there to help :)

Step 4
Get Married!
You’ll meet up with my day-of vendors at Sawmill Reservoir (like photographer/officiant) and they will lead the day! You’ll have a simple ceremony, followed by a photo session. Your officiant will sign the marriage license, and then it’s off to celebrate (usually) at a local restaurant - I’ll provide some great recommendations!
