Sprague Lake
Max Group Size 15
Sprague Lake is one of the most popular elopement ceremony sites in Rocky Mountain National Park, offering easy access, a flat lakeside trail, and panoramic alpine views. However, it is located adjacent to a very popular trail. If you want more privacy, you either need to do sunrise, or a different site.
Lily Lake Picnic
Max Group Size 30
The Lily Lake Picnic Area in Rocky Mountain National Park offers a quiet, wooded lakeside setting that’s perfect for intimate elopement ceremonies, and great for larger groups. You may seem some sites listing the “Lily Lake Dock,” but we don’t plan weddings their due to the proximity to the parking lot and heavy foot traffic.
3M Curve
Max Group Size 15
3M Curve is one of the most iconic elopement locations in Rocky Mountain National Park, known for its massive rock outcrop, sweeping valley views, and dramatic mountain backdrop. Just a short drive from Estes Park, this ceremony site offers an easy walk and wide-open vistas that photograph beautifully in every season.
Moraine Park Amphitheater
Max Group Size 30
Moraine Park Amphitheater is the only ceremony site in Rocky Mountain National Park offering full privacy, private parking, and seating. Just minutes from Estes Park, this historic stone amphitheater provides built-in seating, easy access, and forest backdrops make it perfect for small weddings and elopements. And don’t worry - you can drive up the road for mountain photos after the ceremony!
Other Sites?
There are some other ceremony sites in RMNP (Copeland Lake, Upper Beaver Meadows, and Hidden Valley) but after seven years of planning weddings in here, I can confidently tell you these are the four best—but if you have another spot in mind, just let me know!
RMNP Permits, Park Rules, & FAQs
Wedding Permit
With my planning services I will secure the permit on your behalf—and get you a $50 discount!
Rocky Mountain National Park requires a $300 wedding permit, regardless of the size or length of the ceremony. This permit allows your group to have a wedding at one of the designated wedding sites. After the ceremony you can go elsewhere in the park for your photos!
Max Group Sizes
Each of the designated wedding sites will have a maximum group size, this includes all human beings in your group (even the wedding vendors like photographer and officiant). They are very strict about this!
Dogs
Rocky Mountain National Park does NOT allow dogs at any of the designated ceremony sites, except the Moraine Park Amphitheater.
Decorations, Arches, and Chairs
You are not allowed to setup chairs, tables, decorations, or arches in Rocky Mountain National Park. The one exception is Moraine Park Amphitheater, which has its own seating, and allows wedding arches to be used.
When to Elope in Rocky Mountain National Park
The park is open 365 days a year, and we do elopements here all year around!
Best Month to Elope in RMNP
The most popular months to elope in Rocky Mountain National Park are Mid-June through mid-October. This is peak wedding season in Colorado, and offers comfortable conditions and easy access. Winter conditions are possible late-October through late-May, with the highest chances of snow December through April.

Best Day to Elope in RMNP
The best day of the week to elope in Rocky Mountain National park is a Tuesday or Wednesday, this is when there is the least amount of traffic in the park. I always suggest avoiding Friday-Sunday when possible, and definitely avoiding Saturdays in the summer.
Best Time to Elope in RMNP
The best time to elope in Rocky Mountain National Park is sunset, or sunrise, to get optimal lighting for photos. Sunrise makes for an early morning, but is a great way to have the park to yourself!
