Sunrise Amphitheater is a beautiful mountain overlook, conveniently located on the edge of Boulder, Colorado. The location is open May - October, and has 1-3 hour booking slots available for small weddings. It technically supports up to 100 guests, though I don’t professionally recommend it for more than 35. The location provides sweeping views and privacy, at a very affordable price.

Unfortunately…
To get good photos at this location, you have to optimize for sunrise or sunset, and these permits book out fast for popular dates.

Sunrise Amphitheater Permits, Rules & FAQs

Best Month, Day & Time

Sunrise Amphitheater is open early May through late October, and we do weddings all through this time! Generally speaking, mid-June through mid-October is the “peak” wedding season in Colorado, and that tends to be when the weather is most comfortable, but it’s really just personal preference.

Cost to Reserve the Amphitheater

• One hour rental fee:
  • $150 for non-residents.
  • $100 for residents of Boulder, Colorado.

• Three hour rental fee:
  • $400 for non-residents.
  • $300 for residents of Boulder, Colorado

Max Group Sizes

Sunrise Amphitheater technically has a max group size of 100 people, but I don’t suggest doing groups larger than 35 at outdoor locations that don’t have an indoor backup option for bad weather.

Parking & Accessibility

There is a large parking lot right above the amphitheater, with a couple minute walk down a stone staircase to get to the site. There is also a ramp, which makes this location handicap accessible.

Photo Spots

Sunrise Amphitheater is great for the ceremony and group photos, after that we always encourage our couples to take a short drive up the road to the epic Lost Gulch Overlook—which offers some of the most dynamic views in Colorado!

Marriage License

In order to get legally married in Colorado, you’ll need a marriage license. This process is very simple, and with my planning, I provide easy step-by-step guidance!

Dogs

Dogs are allowed at Sunrise Amphitheater, but must be kept on a leash.

Decorations, Arches, and Chairs

Chairs and limited, non-invasive decorations, are allowed. However, wedding arches are no longer allowed at Sunrise Amphitheater.

Planning, Vendors, & License
I connect you with my team of world-class vendors (photographer, officiant, etc.) based on your preferences. I’ll coordinate the logistics for the day, and provide guidance on obtaining the marriage license.

Step 5
Get Married!
You’ll meet up with my day-of vendors at Sunrise Amphitheater (like photographer/officiant) and they will lead the day! You’ll have a simple ceremony, followed by a photo session—we normally go to Lost Gulch to do portraits! Your officiant will then sign the marriage license, and it’s off to celebrate (usually) at a local restaurant - I’ll provide some great recommendations!
