Things to consider when choosing your location…

With so many factors at play, choosing a venue for your Colorado elopement can be daunting. Here are a few things to keep in mind while selecting a wedding venue:

The View

When narrowing down your venue choices, consider the kind of view you want to have for photos while exchanging your vows. With so many different options, you can choose the view that speaks to you and your partner! Make a list of possible venues and research a bit more to gather information on the ones that fit your unique wedding vision. Whether you want the popular mountain overlook, or something a bit more unique, Colorado has it all!

The Logistics

When planning your elopement location, consider the time it will take you to travel to the wedding venue from where you and any guests are staying. Most likely, you’ll want to choose a ceremony site within 30 minutes of your hotel or rental. You’ll also want to make sure you and your guests don’t have to walk too much to reach your destination. Unless, of course, you’re ready for an adventure! Another consideration is what part of the state you want to be in. If you are looking to be in the mountains, I recommend Breckenridge or Estes Park. Boulder, Colorado Springs, and Denver (though not technically in the mountains) also offer some great options!

Guest Count

One of the best parts about eloping is that there are no rules! Whether you choose to elope just with your partner or call up a couple of close family and friends, there are many options in Colorado that give you the freedom of doing both. Rule of thumb though: the less guests you have, the more flexibility you’ll have on locations, and the less money you’ll spend on the day.

Budget

The simplest way to budget your elopement is in order of priority. For example, if you are dead set on a high-end videographer and photographer, you might want to get a cheaper (or even free!) location. Be mindful of where the biggest chunk of your budget goes to make sure you don’t end up restricting yourself in ways you hadn’t anticipated. Also remember that many venues require you to book in advance and may need you to get a permit for your elopement. If you’re looking to save money on the location, free public parks are a great option!

Multiple locations

Another amazing thing about a Colorado elopement is that it’s highly flexible. You can have a ceremony in a lush greenhouse and then hike to the mountains with your partner afterward, or head out to do some skiing. With lots of different activities and nature experiences, you definitely don’t have to pick just one location for your Colorado micro-wedding!
